According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, local police in Phop Phra District, Tak Province, are investigating a homicide involving two Myanmar nationals. On August 7, 2026, authorities were alerted to a crime scene located in a cassava field near the entrance of Serirat Village, Tambon Chong Khaep.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a 70-year-old man, identified as Mr. Tu-Ong, who suffered from physical disabilities. The victim sustained severe head and facial injuries, and investigators noted that his mouth had been bound with a black cloth. Evidence collected at the scene included a blood-stained blanket and a walking stick, which police believe was used as a weapon.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident occurred after the two men, who were acquaintances, consumed alcohol together. A verbal dispute reportedly escalated when the victim allegedly insulted the suspect's parents. The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Mr. A-Tone, was apprehended by authorities while allegedly attempting to flee toward the border.
