Thai Parliamentary Delegation Visits Vietnam to Strengthen Strategic Partnership
Thai House Speaker Sophon Sarum led a delegation to Hanoi to discuss drug rehabilitation strategies and reinforce bilateral ties during the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
On August 7, 2026, Thai House Speaker Sophon Sarum, accompanied by Thai Ambassador to Hanoi Urawadee Sriphiromya, visited Vietnam to engage in high-level discussions regarding regional security and drug control. The visit, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam, included a study tour of the Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1 in Hanoi’s Hien Bai sub-district.
During the visit, the delegation was hosted by Senior Colonel Nguyen Duc Long, Deputy Commissioner of the Hanoi City Police, who provided briefings on local drug control measures and rehabilitation protocols. Speaker Sophon emphasized that the primary objective of the mission is to exchange knowledge on security issues that impact public quality of life. He expressed particular interest in Vietnam’s rehabilitation systems, noting that Thailand intends to study these practices to potentially inform future policy and legislative developments at home.
