SAT Shortlists Two Candidates for Governor Position
The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has narrowed its search for a new governor to two finalists following a rigorous qualification review.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) selection committee has announced that only two out of ten initial applicants met the necessary qualifications for the position of SAT Governor. The recruitment process, which took place between July 15 and July 29, 2026, is now moving into its final assessment stages.
The two candidates who successfully passed the initial screening are Dr. Meechai Inwood, Deputy Governor for Administration, and Mrs. Prodpraan Samanmit, Deputy Governor for Professional Sports and Muay Thai. The selection committee, chaired by Ms. Nattriya Thaweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, has scheduled further evaluations for these finalists. The candidates are set to undergo an English language proficiency test on August 10, 2026, followed by a formal interview on August 13, 2026.
For residents and those interested in the local sports landscape, this appointment is significant as the SAT plays a central role in managing national sports infrastructure, funding, and the promotion of major sporting events in Thailand. The selection process remains ongoing, and the final decision regarding who will lead the organization has yet to be confirmed. Further updates are expected following the completion of the upcoming interviews.
