Department of Mineral Resources Issues Landslide Warning for 14 Provinces
Authorities have issued a warning for potential landslides and flash floods across 14 provinces in Thailand from August 7–9, 2026.
On August 7, 2026, the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued an urgent advisory regarding potential geological hazards. Due to a monsoon trough passing through the region, the DMR has identified 14 provinces at risk of landslides and flash floods between August 7 and August 9, 2026.
The provinces under the warning include Tak, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Phayao, Phrae, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, and Phang Nga. Specific focus is placed on northern areas, including Tha Song Yang and Mae Ramat districts in Tak, and Mae Sariang district in Mae Hong Son.
For residents and travelers, this alert serves as a precautionary measure to remain vigilant during heavy rainfall. The DMR has instructed its network of disaster monitoring volunteers to stay alert and keep the public informed. While the warning covers a three-day window, the specific intensity of rainfall in localized areas remains subject to meteorological conditions. Those currently in or planning to visit these mountainous or flood-prone regions should monitor local weather reports closely and follow instructions from provincial authorities.
