Khon Kaen Prepares for New Provincial Administrative Organization President Election
Khon Kaen officials have proposed September 27 for a new election for the Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) President following a court ruling.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 7, 2026, the Khon Kaen Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) is moving forward with plans for a new election for the position of PAO President. This development follows a ruling by the Region 4 Court of Appeal in case number LT.PAO 1/2026, which ordered a new election regarding the election of local government officials.
Mr. Pongjet Pornkuna, the acting PAO President and Director of the Khon Kaen PAO Election Commission, stated that the organization is currently submitting a formal plan to the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) for approval. The proposed date for the election is Sunday, September 27, 2026, with a registration period for candidates scheduled between August 17 and August 21. The estimated budget for conducting this election is 70 million baht.
