GUNKUL Secures 1 Billion Baht Green Loan for Renewable Energy Expansion
Gunkul Engineering has signed a sustainability-linked loan agreement with LH Bank to accelerate its renewable energy projects in Thailand and abroad.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Gunkul Engineering (GUNKUL) has finalized a 1 billion baht sustainability-linked loan agreement with Land and Houses Bank (LH Bank). This financial injection is intended to support the company's ongoing development and investment in clean energy infrastructure both domestically and internationally.
Currently, GUNKUL manages a portfolio of projects under development or awaiting revenue recognition totaling approximately 1,400 megawatts. The company aims to further expand its renewable energy capacity to over 2,121 megawatts, aligning with Thailand’s PDP 2026 power development plan and the national commitment to Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero Emissions.
For residents and travelers in Thailand, this development highlights the country's ongoing transition toward a greener energy grid. As the nation pushes to meet its climate goals, increased investment in renewable infrastructure may lead to more stable energy sources and a shift in the national power landscape. While the funding is secured, the specific timelines for the completion of these 1,400 megawatts of projects and the exact locations of new international ventures remain to be confirmed. The company continues to position itself as a key player in the regional energy sector, though the long-term impact on consumer electricity costs or grid reliability remains a subject for future observation.
