Thailand and Myanmar to Form Joint Task Force for Cross-Border River Pollution
The Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is initiating a collaborative effort with Myanmar to address toxic substances in shared border rivers, with a 1-3 year water quality management plan in development.
According to Prachachat Business, the Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) is preparing to establish a joint working group with Myanmar to tackle the issue of toxic substances found in cross-border rivers. Rawiwan Phuridech, Permanent Secretary of the MNRE, announced that the first meeting is expected to take place this August.
The primary objective of this initiative is to develop a comprehensive 1-3 year plan focused on controlling and improving the water quality of the Kok River. This collaborative effort aims to address environmental concerns that have emerged regarding the shared water resources between the two nations.
