Thailand’s 'Aom Plus' Government Bond Launch Sees Massive Demand
The Stock Exchange of Thailand reports that the first round of 'Aom Plus' government bonds exceeded subscription targets by 8.2 times.
According to Khaosod Online, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has announced that the initial offering of the 'Aom Plus' government bonds for 2026 was met with significant public interest. The subscription period, conducted via the Bond Connect Platform, generated total orders of 16.511 billion baht, which is 8.2 times the original offering limit.
To ensure broad participation, the SET utilized a 'Small Lot First' allocation method, resulting in nearly 24,000 successful applicants. Among these, 9,390 individuals were allocated 3-year bonds totaling approximately 704.5 million baht.
For residents and those managing finances in Thailand, this high demand reflects a strong appetite for government-backed investment vehicles. While the current round has concluded, the SET has confirmed that a new subscription window is scheduled for September 7–9, 2026.
It remains to be confirmed how the government will adjust future offering limits or interest rates in response to this overwhelming demand. As this is a financial news update, individuals interested in participating in the upcoming September round should monitor official SET announcements for specific eligibility requirements and platform updates. This development highlights the current climate of domestic investment interest in Thailand.
