Thai Stock Market Hits Four-Year Trading High Amid Foreign Investment Surge
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) reported its highest daily trading volume in over four years for July, driven by three consecutive months of net foreign buying.
According to Khaosod Online, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) demonstrated resilience in July 2026, maintaining strong performance despite global tech stock corrections and Middle Eastern geopolitical tensions. SET President Asdajed Kongsiri noted that foreign investors have been net buyers for three consecutive months, pushing daily trading volumes to a four-year peak.
For residents and expatriates, this uptick reflects a strengthening economic foundation, supported by an increase in actualized Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) through government 'Fast Track' and 'Fast Pass' initiatives. These measures, alongside infrastructure development, are expected to encourage further private sector investment. The SET is preparing to host 'Thailand Focus 2026,' featuring 87 listed companies with a combined market capitalization exceeding 15 trillion baht, to bolster global investor confidence.
Looking ahead, the SET projects a potential index rise to 1,700 points by the end of 2026. However, this outlook remains contingent on several external factors. Whether this growth continues depends on the stability of international conflicts and global oil prices, which could impact the economy if they exceed 100 USD per barrel. Investors and observers are waiting to see if these positive trends can withstand potential global market volatility in the coming months.
