Bank Employee Arrested at Nong Khai Border While Attempting to Flee
A bank employee wanted for credit card fraud was apprehended by immigration officers at the Nong Khai railway station while attempting to cross into Laos.
On August 6, 2026, immigration authorities at the Nong Khai railway station arrested a 32-year-old Bangkok man, identified as Mr. Phanuwat, as he attempted to leave Thailand. According to Khaosod Online, the suspect was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Bangkok South Criminal Court on July 27, 2026, following allegations of unauthorized computer data modification and theft from his employer.
Investigations revealed that the suspect, who worked as a credit card approval officer at a bank headquarters in Bangkok, allegedly abused his position to increase his own credit card limit from 40,000 THB to 70,000 THB for personal use. After the bank discovered the discrepancy, they filed a formal complaint, leading to the warrant.
