Thailand Consumers Council Challenges Bangkok’s Condo Safety Reports
The Thailand Consumers Council reports that 12 high-rise condominiums in Bangkok, previously marked as 'corrected' by city officials, still contain building code violations.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Thailand Consumers Council (TCC) has conducted field inspections of 50 high-rise condominium projects across Bangkok. The council’s findings contradict official data provided by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). Specifically, the TCC identified 12 buildings that the BMA had previously certified as having 'corrected' their safety violations, which the council claims remain non-compliant with building control regulations.
The TCC has publicly urged the Governor of Bangkok to enforce building safety laws more rigorously, arguing that administrative paperwork does not equate to actual physical safety. The council expressed significant concern that these unresolved violations could increase risks during emergencies, such as fires or seismic events.
