Thai Interior Ministry to Revoke 5,925 Local Government Exam Results Due to Fraud

On August 6, 2026, Nirat Pongsitthavorn, Acting Director-General of the Department of Local Administration (DLA), announced that 5,925 individuals who participated in local government recruitment exams will face disqualification due to evidence of score manipulation. According to Khaosod Online, the decision follows a directive from Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who has mandated a strict, transparent approach to addressing the misconduct.

The revocation process applies to all identified individuals, regardless of their current status. This includes those who have already been appointed to positions, who will be dismissed, as well as those currently on waiting lists, who will be removed from consideration. Even candidates who achieved passing scores independently will be disqualified if their records show any evidence of score alteration.

For residents and expatriates, this development highlights a significant administrative overhaul within the Thai civil service sector. While this action aims to restore integrity to the recruitment process, it may lead to temporary staffing shortages or delays in local government services as positions are vacated and re-evaluated.
