Thai Border Patrol Police seized 2 million methamphetamine pills following a high-speed chase that ended in a vehicle crash in Chiang Rai province.
On August 5, 2026, the Border Patrol Police (BPP) Region 3 and BPP Company 327 reported a significant drug seizure in Chiang Rai province. According to Khaosod Online, authorities had been tracking a drug trafficking network suspected of moving narcotics from the Thai-Myanmar border in Mae Fah Luang district since August 4.
Officers identified a grey Nissan pickup truck traveling from the mountainous area toward Highway 107. When police attempted to intercept the vehicle near Ban Huai Hin Fon in Mae Chan district, the driver accelerated, leading to a high-speed pursuit. The chase concluded when the suspect lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a residential wall in Ban Pang Sa. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into the nearby forest. Upon inspection, police discovered 10 sacks containing a total of 2 million methamphetamine pills.
