Electric Vehicle Fire Reported at Nonthaburi Residence
A major fire involving an electric vehicle occurred while charging at a home in Nonthaburi, causing total loss of the vehicle and damage to a nearby truck.
On August 5, 2026, a fire broke out at a residence in the Chaiyaphruek area of Nonthaburi province, involving an electric vehicle (EV) that was plugged into a home charging station. According to Khaosod Online, local firefighters were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:30 a.m. and managed to extinguish the blaze within 10 minutes. While the EV was completely destroyed, the fire also spread to a nearby pickup truck, damaging its front end and engine compartment.
The 54-year-old owner of the EV stated that the vehicle was purchased in April 2025 and that the charging equipment had been professionally installed and inspected by the Provincial Electricity Authority without prior issues. The owner noted that they had been monitoring the charging status via a mobile application before being alerted to the fire. A neighbor reported hearing a muffled explosion before seeing smoke and flames. Forensic investigators from Nonthaburi examined the scene and confirmed that the wall-mounted charging unit was completely destroyed by the fire.
