Local Government Exam Irregularities Lead to Official Investigation
Thai authorities are investigating exam irregularities involving 97 candidates who received score adjustments, leading to a major review of local government recruitment.
On August 5, 2026, the Central Committee for Local Government Recruitment (KASATH) held a meeting at the Department of Local Administration to address significant irregularities in recent civil service examinations. According to Khaosod Online, the committee identified 97 individuals who were previously appointed but were found to have had their scores improperly adjusted.
Ministry of Interior Permanent Secretary Ardsith Samma-pantharat confirmed that the committee has officially revoked the previous recruitment list and is establishing a new one. Approximately 12,000 candidates who passed the exam honestly are expected to be included in the new list, while those linked to the score manipulation will be excluded. The committee is also preparing to summon a former Director-General of the Department of Local Administration to provide testimony regarding the alleged fraud.
