Ok Phansa 2026: End of Buddhist Lent

Ok Phansa marks the end of the three-month Buddhist Lent retreat with merit-making, temple ceremonies, and traditional festivals across Thailand.

Ok Phansa, falling on the full moon of the eleventh lunar month, signifies the end of the rainy-season retreat for monks. On 26 October 2026, communities across Thailand will engage in merit-making and temple visits. Notable regional events include the Lai Ruea Fai (Illuminated Boat Procession) in Nakhon Phanom and the Naga Fireball sightings in Nong Khai province. Please note that a nationwide alcohol sales ban is in effect for the day, with exemptions for certain licensed venues.
