Naga Fireball Festival 2026

An annual cultural event in Nong Khai province marking the end of Buddhist Lent, featuring the mysterious Naga Fireball phenomenon on the Mekong River.

The Naga Fireball Festival coincides with Ok Phansa, the end of Buddhist Lent. On the night of 26 October 2026, spectators gather along the Mekong River in Nong Khai province to witness 'Bung Fai Phaya Nak'—glowing reddish-pink orbs reported to rise from the water. The festival includes stage shows, long-boat races, and cultural displays in Nong Khai town, Phon Phisai, and Rattanawapi. Viewing is free from the riverbank. Visitors are advised to book accommodation in advance as the area becomes very busy.
