Thailand Consumer Confidence Rises for Second Consecutive Month in July 2026
Thailand's consumer confidence index reached 51.1 in July 2026, driven by government stimulus and a recovering tourism sector.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Ministry of Commerce announced that Thailand's overall consumer confidence index rose to 51.1 in July 2026, marking the second consecutive month of growth. This figure represents an increase from 50.2 in the previous month, placing the index back into the confidence zone.
Nanthapong Jiralertpong, Director of the Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO), stated that the rise is largely attributed to government economic stimulus measures, specifically the 'Thai Help Thai Plus' program. Additionally, the expansion of the export sector and improvements in the tourism industry have contributed to a more positive outlook among the 5,524 survey respondents nationwide. The index for future confidence (three months ahead) also climbed to 57.3, up from 56.8, while the current confidence index rose to 41.7 from 40.2.
For residents and travelers, this data suggests a strengthening domestic economy, which may correlate with increased local spending and service availability. However, the report notes that citizens remain cautious regarding the cost of living, debt burdens, and global economic uncertainties. While the current confidence index remains below the 50-point threshold, indicating lingering concerns, the upward trend reflects a broader recovery. It remains to be seen how long these stimulus-driven gains will persist against the backdrop of global trade volatility.
