New Permanent Exhibition Opens at Nakhon Si Thammarat National Museum

The Fine Arts Department of Thailand recently unveiled a new permanent exhibition titled 'The Great Reliquary of Nakhon Si Thammarat' at the Nakhon Si Thammarat National Museum. Presided over by Director-General Phanombut Chanthrachot, the opening serves as a tribute ahead of the centenary of the birth of King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX) in December 2027.

This museum holds historical significance as the first national museum in Southern Thailand, inaugurated by King Rama IX himself on August 26, 1974. The new exhibition utilizes modern display technology to educate visitors on the history and cultural importance of Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, a site currently under consideration for UNESCO World Heritage status.
