Thai Students Showcase Robotics Innovation at National Competition

According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the 'Robot Playground Festival' recently provided a platform for Thai youth to demonstrate advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence. The event, organized by the Thai Robotics and AI Teachers Association and the Thai Robot Teachers Club with support from Panasonic Energy (Thailand), highlights the growing technical capabilities of local students.

Team SPIM-D, consisting of 17-year-old students Chaiyapat Suwannaratsamee and Nattadon Srirattanakul from Panyapiwat Institute of Management Demonstration School, secured first place in the Bigfoot Gundam Open category. Their winning entry is a manually controlled robot that integrates complex engineering, electrical systems, and precise mechanical movement.

For residents and visitors interested in Thailand’s technological landscape, this development signals a rising interest in practical engineering among the younger generation. The team intends to advance their project into a specialized 'rescue robot.' Future iterations are expected to feature heat-detection sensors, integrated cameras, and 5G remote control capabilities. These enhancements are designed to allow the robot to operate in hazardous environments, such as collapsed buildings or chemical spill sites, where human access is restricted. While the current prototype demonstrates significant mechanical potential, the timeline for developing these advanced rescue features and their eventual deployment in real-world emergency scenarios remains to be confirmed.
