Thailand Advances Agricultural Database Project to Cover 75,000 Villages

According to a report by Thai Post, the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE) is continuing its efforts to finalize a national agricultural database covering 75,000 villages across Thailand. Peerapan Kor-thong, Secretary-General of the OAE, stated that accurate and up-to-date agricultural information is essential for effective situational analysis and policy planning.

To achieve this goal, the OAE is partnering with the Department of Agricultural Extension (DOAE) to survey the remaining 18,000 villages. This final phase will utilize the 'Frame-asa' system, with local agricultural volunteers (OGM) tasked with conducting the field surveys throughout 2026.

For residents and those involved in the agricultural sector, this initiative represents a significant step toward digitizing rural economic data, which may eventually lead to more targeted government support and improved resource allocation. For travelers, while this project primarily concerns administrative and economic infrastructure, it highlights the ongoing modernization of Thailand’s rural landscape.

At this stage, the project is focused on data collection and integration.
