Su Tong Pae Bridge Damaged by Heavy Rains in Mae Hong Son

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 3, 2026, heavy rainfall has caused significant damage to the Su Tong Pae Bridge in Mueang District, Mae Hong Son. Strong currents, exacerbated by large debris and logs, struck the southern end of the bridge, causing a structural collapse that has made the crossing impassable.

Monks from the nearby Wat Phu Samana Ram have been working to clear debris from the site. Local authorities are currently planning long-term restoration efforts, which include installing gabion baskets to reinforce the structure and reviewing water management strategies for the area to mitigate future flood risks. The incident also affected the nearby Ban Mae Sa Nga village, where three homes sustained damage due to flash flooding.

For travelers and residents, this means the bridge is currently closed to all traffic. While authorities are monitoring the situation and preparing for potential further rainfall, visitors should avoid the area until repairs are completed.
