Ubon Ratchathani Airport Hits Record Passenger Numbers During Long Holiday

According to Khaosod Online, Ubon Ratchathani Airport has reached a new record for passenger traffic during the current long holiday period. The surge in travelers is attributed to the combination of the King’s birthday celebrations, Asarnha Bucha Day, and the start of Buddhist Lent, which includes the local tradition of the Candle Festival.

Deputy Minister of Transport Phatthaphong Phatthaprasit stated that he has instructed the Department of Airports to ensure all regional facilities maintain strict safety standards and operational efficiency. Measures include monitoring security equipment, such as X-ray machines and CCTV, and ensuring sufficient staffing to manage passenger flow during peak hours. Furthermore, the Ministry is coordinating with local transport services to provide seamless connections from the airport to city centers and tourist destinations to reduce congestion.

For travelers and residents, this record-breaking volume may lead to longer wait times at security checkpoints and increased traffic around the airport vicinity. While the Ministry has implemented plans to mitigate these issues, passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
