Soldier Injured in Landmine Incident Near Sa Kaeo Border

On July 29, 2026, the Royal Thai Army reported that a sergeant major suffered a traumatic amputation of his left ankle and shrapnel wounds while conducting demining operations near the border in Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo province. According to Major General Winthai Suvaree, the army spokesperson, the incident occurred in a historically hazardous area near Ban Nong Chan, which has been a focus of the Humanitarian Mine Action Unit 1 (HMAU 1).
