New Rail Link Proposed to Connect Chumphon and Ranong Port

According to Khaosod Online Thailand, Deputy Minister of Transport Sanphet Bunyamanee has announced a proposal for a new 110-kilometer double-track railway connecting Chumphon to the port of Ranong. This project is intended to serve as a 'missing link' in Thailand’s national rail network, aiming to connect the country’s primary rail lines to a deep-sea port on the Andaman coast for the first time.

The project, estimated to cost over 27 billion baht, is framed as a strategic infrastructure investment designed to integrate existing roads, railways, ports, and airports into a more cohesive logistics system.
