Proposed Chumphon-Ranong Railway Project Gains Momentum

According to a report by Matichon Online, Sanphet Boonyamanee is advocating for the construction of a new railway line linking Chumphon province to the Ranong Port. The project, estimated to cost 27 billion baht, is intended to enhance regional connectivity and logistics between the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea.

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has reportedly submitted the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the project to the relevant authorities for review. This step is a critical component of the planning process before the project can proceed to the bidding stage. Current projections suggest that the auction for the construction contract could potentially take place in 2027.

For residents and travelers, this project represents a significant long-term infrastructure development that could eventually streamline travel and freight movement across the southern Thai peninsula.
