Thailand Weather Alert: Heavy Rain in South and Temperature Drop in North
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in the South and a significant temperature drop across Northern, Northeastern, and Central regions from November 9–13, 2026.
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued an official warning regarding severe weather conditions expected across Thailand from November 9 to 13, 2026. According to the report cited by Khaosod Online, the southern region is expected to experience continuous heavy to very heavy rainfall. Residents and travelers in these areas are advised to remain vigilant against potential flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes. Furthermore, maritime conditions in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are expected to be hazardous, with wave heights exceeding two meters in areas affected by thunderstorms. Mariners are urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid sailing in stormy conditions.
Simultaneously, a strong high-pressure system from China is moving over upper Thailand, leading to a notable cooling trend. Temperatures in the Northeast are forecast to drop by 3–5 degrees Celsius, while the North, Central region, Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East will see a decrease of 1–3 degrees Celsius. The public is encouraged to monitor health due to the sudden temperature shift and to protect agricultural produce. Travelers should plan their itineraries carefully during this period. For the latest updates, the public is advised to consult the official TMD website at www.tmd.go.th or contact their hotline at 0-2399-4012-13.
