Rajadamnern Stadium Faces Attendance Shift Following New Scoring Transparency Measures

Khaosod Online Thailand One source

Promoter Thitiwat 'Dear Kiatpetch' Teeradejpong highlighted a decline in local Thai spectators at Rajadamnern Stadium, coinciding with the implementation of real-time round-by-round scoring disclosures.

Prominent Muay Thai promoter Thitiwat 'Dear Kiatpetch' Teeradejpong recently shared a photograph of himself sitting in a largely empty section of the historic Rajadamnern Stadium. In his social media post, he expressed concern over the noticeable absence of local Thai fans, noting that the venue was instead filled primarily with international tourists.

This shift in attendance follows the stadium's recent decision to implement new transparency measures, which began on November 1, 2026. These changes include the public disclosure of judges' names for every bout and, significantly, the release of scorecards after every round. While these reforms aim to modernize the sport and ensure fairness, the promoter suggested that the industry stakeholders may need to engage in dialogue to address the current disconnect with the local audience.

For residents and travelers, this development marks a significant evolution in the Muay Thai experience. While the atmosphere at the stadium is changing, the sport remains a major attraction for international visitors. It remains to be confirmed whether these transparency measures will eventually lead to a return of local fans or if the stadium will continue to rely heavily on tourism-driven attendance. Stakeholders have yet to announce any further adjustments to the current judging protocols.
