Police have charged former foundation president Panadda Wongphudee and her husband with fraud and money laundering, alleging the misuse of over 581 million baht in donations.

On November 7, 2026, Thai authorities announced legal proceedings against Panadda 'Boom' Wongphudee, the former president of the Ongkorn Thamdee Foundation, and her husband, Athip Anantawan. According to the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD), the couple faces charges including public fraud, money laundering, and violations of the Computer Crimes Act. Police officials detailed that between 2015 and the present, the foundation received approximately 815 million baht in donations from over one million contributors. Investigators allege that over 581 million baht of these funds were diverted for personal use, including credit card payments, luxury goods, and transfers to personal accounts belonging to the couple and their associates. For residents and expatriates, this case highlights the importance of verifying the transparency and financial governance of charitable organizations operating within Thailand. While the police have presented their initial findings regarding the flow of funds, the case is currently in the legal process. It remains to be confirmed how the defense will respond to these allegations and what the final judicial outcome will be. The public is advised to monitor official updates from the Royal Thai Police as the investigation continues.
