Customs Seize 51 Tons of Frozen Chicken Misdeclared as Mango Sticky Rice

On July 27, 2026, Thai Customs, in collaboration with the Chonburi Animal Quarantine Station, inspected two shipping containers at Laem Chabang Port destined for China. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the exporter had officially declared the cargo as 4,250 boxes of 'mango sticky rice' weighing 51,000 kilograms. Upon inspection, authorities discovered the containers actually held 51,000 kilograms of frozen chicken feet, valued at approximately 4,827,265 baht.

Phanthong Loykulnan, Director-General of the Customs Department, confirmed that the goods have been seized as evidence. Authorities are currently pursuing legal action against the parties involved.

For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the strict oversight of export goods leaving Thailand. Officials noted that such illicit activities pose a significant risk to the country's international trade reputation; if such mislabeled shipments were to reach foreign markets, Thailand could face potential suspensions on poultry exports from its trading partners.
