Emergency Evacuations Underway in Prachin Buri Due to Severe Flooding

Authorities in Prachin Buri province have evacuated over 100 people, including bedridden patients, as floodwaters threaten temporary shelters in Ban Sang district.

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on October 5, 2026, severe flooding in Prachin Buri province has escalated, particularly in the Ban Sang district. As water from upstream flows into low-lying areas, the Prachin Buri River has risen rapidly, prompting urgent intervention from local officials.

Acting Governor Chanathip Kokmanee and local authorities have been coordinating relief efforts, including the distribution of supplies and the deployment of military vehicles to navigate flooded roads that are currently impassable for standard passenger cars. A critical situation developed late in the evening when floodwaters threatened the Sri Rak Rat Bamrung School, which was serving as a temporary shelter. Over 100 individuals, including vulnerable bedridden patients, were relocated to a new, safer facility to avoid the encroaching water.

For residents and travelers in the region, this situation highlights significant disruptions to local transportation and safety. Main roads in the affected areas are currently inaccessible, requiring the use of boats or specialized military transport. While relief operations are ongoing, the full extent of the flood's impact on infrastructure and the duration of the displacement remain to be confirmed. Those in or planning to travel to Prachin Buri are advised to monitor local updates closely and avoid flooded zones.
