Severe Flooding Cuts Off Ban Sang District in Prachin Buri
Severe flooding in Prachin Buri has completely severed road access to Ban Sang district, forcing authorities to utilize rail transport for aid delivery.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on October 3, 2026, Prachin Buri province is facing a critical flood situation. While conditions in districts like Na Di and Kabin Buri are showing signs of improvement, with some roads reopening, the situation in Ban Sang remains dire.
Acting Prachin Buri Governor Chanathip Khokmanee stated that Ban Sang is currently the most affected area, with road access completely cut off across nine sub-districts. The flooding is described as more severe than the historic 2011 event. To manage the crisis, authorities have shifted logistics to rail transport to deliver essential supplies. In other areas, such as Prachantakham and Si Maha Phot, water levels are receding, though some residents remain unable to return home. Specifically, the Dong Chai Man village in Prachantakham is currently isolated, accessible only by boat.
For residents and travelers, this means significant disruption to local transportation and potential health risks from waterborne illnesses. The provincial government has established field kitchens and is providing three meals a day to those remaining in their homes. Public health officials are monitoring the situation to address water-related skin conditions. It remains to be confirmed how long the rail-based supply chain will be required and when road connectivity to Ban Sang will be fully restored.
