Police Apprehend Fugitive Who Escaped Sutthisan Police Station
Authorities have recaptured a 35-year-old suspect who escaped from a police station holding cell by deceiving an officer.
According to Khaosod Online, police have apprehended 35-year-old Parinya Meepumru, also known as 'Nu,' following his escape from the Sutthisan Police Station. The suspect had been detained on charges of theft at night under an arrest warrant issued in June 2026.
Reports indicate that the suspect was being held at the Sutthisan station due to flooding at the Criminal Court, which delayed his scheduled transfer for detention. On September 30, the suspect allegedly deceived the duty officer by requesting that they purchase food for him. When the officer complied, the suspect reportedly kicked open the cell door and fled the premises, later taking a taxi to the Ram Inthra 77 area.
For residents and visitors, this incident highlights a temporary security breach at a local police facility. While the suspect has been recaptured, the event underscores the logistical challenges faced by local authorities during periods of severe flooding, which can impact standard detention and transfer procedures.
Details regarding the specific disciplinary actions taken against the duty officer or potential changes to station security protocols remain to be confirmed by the Metropolitan Police Bureau. The suspect is now back in custody to face the original theft charges, with additional legal consequences for his escape likely to follow.
