Flash Floods Strike Buriram Province, Over 40 Homes Submerged
A sudden flash flood in Buriram's Chaloem Phra Kiat district has submerged dozens of homes and damaged local infrastructure.
According to a report by Thai Post, a flash flood struck the Ta Pek sub-district in Buriram Province during the early hours of September 26, 2026. The surge of water began around 3:00 AM, catching residents off guard and leaving them little time to prepare.
Local authorities report that over 40 houses in Ban Huai Tai were submerged by the rising waters. The force of the flood also caused significant damage to local infrastructure, resulting in a severed road that has disrupted travel in the area. In response, the Phanom Rung Subdistrict Municipality, alongside community leaders and local residents, has mobilized to fill sandbags in an effort to mitigate further damage and protect remaining properties.
For residents and travelers in the region, this event highlights the potential for rapid environmental hazards during the rainy season. While emergency efforts are currently underway, those planning to travel through or stay in the Chaloem Phra Kiat district should exercise caution, as road conditions may remain unstable.
