Severe Flooding Hits Bang Lamung, Chonburi
The Bang Lamung canal has overflowed, causing the worst flooding in 30 years and affecting over 250 households.
According to reports from Khaosod Online on September 26, 2026, the Bang Lamung district in Chonburi province is experiencing its most severe flooding in three decades. The crisis was triggered when the Bang Lamung canal, which serves as a primary drainage route to the Gulf of Thailand, overflowed due to high water volume combined with a rising sea tide.
The flooding began late at night, and by midday on September 26, water levels in affected areas had reached up to 1.5 meters. At least three major communities have been hit, including Tha Kradan (50 households) and Nong Sadao (20 households), with over 250 homes reported to be impacted in total.
For residents and travelers in the area, this situation presents significant risks regarding property damage and local mobility. Road access in the affected sub-districts may be restricted or hazardous due to deep standing water. Those currently in or planning to visit Bang Lamung are advised to monitor local news for updates on evacuation orders or road closures. While the immediate cause is identified as a combination of canal overflow and tidal surges, the duration of the floodwaters and the full extent of the damage to infrastructure remain to be confirmed by local authorities.
