Heavy, persistent rainfall has triggered flash floods and landslides in Chanthaburi province, resulting in a tragic fatality and widespread infrastructure damage.
According to reports from Khaosod Online on September 25, 2026, the Kaeng Hang Maew district in Chanthaburi province is facing a critical situation following days of continuous heavy rain. The deluge has caused flash floods and overflowing waterways, severely impacting the sub-districts of Khun Song, Phawa, and Sam Phi Nong.
Tragically, a landslide struck a monk's living quarters (kuti) at a local forest monastery, resulting in one fatality. The flooding has inundated residential homes, fruit orchards, and local road networks. Notably, secondary roads such as the route near Wat Thammathan and the road connecting Khao Pom to Ban Wang E-Aen are currently impassable due to high water levels. While the main Sukhumvit Road remains operational, many residents remain trapped in their homes.
Emergency response teams, including the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, military personnel, police, and local rescue volunteers, are actively conducting relief operations. Efforts are focused on moving belongings to higher ground and evacuating bedridden patients from high-risk areas.
