Khao Yai National Park Closed Indefinitely Due to Severe Weather
Khao Yai National Park has suspended all tourism activities indefinitely following heavy rainfall, flash floods, and infrastructure damage.
As of September 25, 2026, Khao Yai National Park has officially closed all tourist areas to the public until further notice. According to park chief Chaiya Huayhongthong, the decision follows days of heavy, persistent rainfall that triggered flash floods, particularly in the Pong Ton Sai area, where water levels have reached unprecedented heights.
The severe weather has caused significant damage to the park's infrastructure, including landslides near Noi Waterfall and numerous fallen trees. These conditions have also resulted in a power and communication blackout that has persisted for 48 hours. For the safety of visitors and residents, all major attractions—including Sarika Waterfall, Takro Waterfall, and Kaeng Hin Phoeng—are inaccessible. Additionally, all park entrance checkpoints, including the Noen Hom gate, are closed.
For travelers and residents, this means all planned visits to the park must be postponed. Authorities are currently working to repair damaged power lines and clear debris, but there is no confirmed timeline for when the park will reopen. Visitors are advised to monitor official announcements from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation for updates on the situation. The park will remain closed until conditions are deemed safe for public access.
