Krabi School Officials Sentenced for Misuse of Funeral Association Funds
A Krabi court has handed down suspended prison sentences to seven former school officials for misappropriating funds from a teacher's funeral association to cover personal expenses.
On September 8, 2026, the Krabi District Court convicted seven former school directors and teachers for violating the Funeral Welfare Act of 2002. According to Khaosod Online, the defendants were found guilty of misusing funds allocated by the Krabi Teacher Savings Cooperative’s funeral association.
Evidence presented in court revealed that the group diverted 10,820 baht from a 40,000-baht budget—originally intended for training and study trips—to pay for alcohol, meals, and driver fees during a private gathering of approximately ten people at a restaurant. The court sentenced each of the seven defendants to two months in prison and imposed a 6,000-baht fine. However, the prison sentences were suspended for a period of one year.
