TAT Launches 'Nihao Month 2026' to Boost Chinese Tourism

The Tourism Authority of Thailand has invited 31 Chinese influencers to promote Thai travel experiences, aiming to sustain tourism momentum through the 2027 Chinese New Year.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has officially launched the 'Nihao Month 2026' project, welcoming 31 prominent Chinese influencers (KOLs) to experience Thailand’s tourism offerings firsthand. The initiative was inaugurated during the 'Amazing Thailand Mid-Autumn Celebration 2026' held at One Bangkok, attended by TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool and Yang Xiaolong, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand.

According to Khaosod Online, the project aims to leverage the influencers' content to showcase the charm of Thailand to Chinese audiences. By sharing their personal travel experiences, these creators are expected to inspire travel and strengthen cultural ties under the theme 'China and Thailand are not strangers, but brothers.'

For travelers and residents, this campaign signals a continued strategic focus on the Chinese market, which may lead to increased promotional activities and events throughout the remainder of 2026 and into the 2027 Chinese New Year period. While the campaign is designed to boost interest among high-quality Chinese tourists, the specific long-term impact on visitor numbers and potential changes to travel infrastructure or visa-related policies remain to be confirmed. The TAT continues to emphasize the importance of these digital partnerships in maintaining Thailand's appeal as a premier destination for international visitors.
