Airport Rail Link Operations Extended for Four Months

According to Khaosod Online, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has announced a temporary extension for the operation of the Airport Rail Link. Following the expiration of the current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 30, 2026, the SRT and Asia Era One (a subsidiary of the CP Group) have agreed to a four-month extension.

Under the new agreement, which is scheduled to be signed on September 28, 2026, Asia Era One will continue to manage the rail service from October 1, 2026, through January 31, 2027. The operator is required to provide a security deposit of 533 million baht. The terms of the extension maintain the existing operational model, where revenue from passenger fares is used to cover operational expenses without additional service fees paid by the SRT.

For travelers and residents, this extension ensures that there will be no disruption to the Airport Rail Link service during this transition period. While the immediate continuity of the service is secured, the long-term management plan following the conclusion of this four-month period remains to be finalized. The SRT has indicated that after January 31, 2027, the responsibility for the rail line will transition to the SRT Electric Train Company.
