Heavy Rains Trigger Flash Floods in Nakhon Ratchasima; Khao Yai Cafe Closes
Continuous heavy rainfall has caused flash flooding in parts of Nakhon Ratchasima, forcing a popular Khao Yai cafe to suspend operations.
On September 25, 2026, heavy and persistent rainfall across Nakhon Ratchasima province led to localized flash flooding, impacting businesses in the Khao Yai area. According to Khaosod Online, a well-known cafe in the region was forced to close its doors due to the sudden influx of water.
Kris Poonkasem, head of the Nakhon Ratchasima Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), reported that all 32 districts in the province have experienced overcast skies and varying levels of precipitation. Meteorological data indicates significant rainfall, with Pak Chong district recording 160 millimeters, followed by Phra Thong Kham (56.5 mm), Wang Nam Khiao (55 mm), and Khon Buri (25 mm).
For residents and travelers, these conditions necessitate caution when navigating mountainous or low-lying areas prone to runoff. While the situation is disruptive, the Nakhon Ratchasima Irrigation Office has provided some reassurance regarding water management. They report that the province's four major dams—Lam Takhong, Lam Phra Phloeng, Mun Bon, and Lam Chae—are currently holding less than 50% of their total capacity, meaning they retain significant space to manage further inflows.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. Travelers planning trips to Khao Yai or surrounding districts are advised to check local weather updates and road conditions before departure, as the impact of the rainfall remains localized and subject to change.
