Thai Government Activates 24-Hour War Room Amid Flood Risks in Central Thailand
Authorities have heightened surveillance and established a 24-hour monitoring center to manage potential flooding in the Central region and the Chao Phraya River basin.
On September 25, 2026, the Thai government announced an intensified monitoring effort for the Central region, including Bangkok and its surrounding provinces, due to heavy rainfall forecasted between September 24 and 27. Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periwattana stated that Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri has ordered relevant agencies to prioritize water management, machinery deployment, and public safety.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has launched a 24-hour 'War Room' to coordinate emergency responses. The Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) is specifically monitoring low-lying areas outside flood embankments downstream of the Chao Phraya Dam, particularly in Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, and Pathum Thani provinces. Officials are currently inspecting drainage routes and removing obstructions to facilitate water flow.
