Severe Flooding Hits Ang Thong Province Following Heavy Rainfall
Heavy storms have caused widespread flooding across Ang Thong province, prompting emergency evacuations and urgent water drainage efforts as the Chao Phraya River continues to rise.
According to reports from Khaosod Online on September 25, 2026, Ang Thong province is facing significant flooding due to persistent heavy rainfall. Local authorities and volunteer rescue teams, including the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, are actively assisting residents, including the relocation of immobile patients in the Wat Ang Thong community to higher ground for safety.
Local administrative organizations are working to drain water from residential areas, particularly in the Ban It sub-district, where many households have been affected by overnight storms. The situation remains critical as the Chao Phraya River continues to rise. The Chao Phraya Dam is currently discharging water at a rate of 1,750 cubic meters per second. As of the latest measurement at the C7A station near the Ang Thong City Hall, the water level has reached 7.23 meters, approaching the critical threshold of 8 meters.
For residents and travelers in the region, this situation may lead to localized road closures and disruptions to daily services. While emergency measures are in place, the full extent of the impact on infrastructure and the duration of the floodwaters remain to be confirmed.
