Police Respond to Armed Standoff and Fire in Bangkok's Bang Phlat District
Authorities have cordoned off a residential area in Bang Phlat, Bangkok, following a fatal arson incident involving a man who fired at responding officers.
On the morning of September 25, 2026, police from the Bang Phlat station responded to reports of a man setting fire to his own home in Soi Charan Sanitwong 67. According to Khaosod Online, the suspect, identified as the son of a retired Major General, fired shots at responding firefighters and police officers, forcing them to seek cover.
Following the standoff, the suspect was found deceased on the second floor of the residence. The situation remains critical as authorities have discovered multiple war-grade firearms and objects resembling explosives within the property. Consequently, the area has been cordoned off, and local residents are being evacuated to ensure public safety.
