YouTube Thailand Reports Growth in Creator Economy and E-commerce Integration
Google Thailand highlights the expansion of over 90,000 YouTube channels with significant followings, emphasizing a shift toward integrated e-commerce and short-form video content.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, Google Thailand has announced significant growth in the local digital creator ecosystem. As of September 2026, there are over 90,000 YouTube channels in Thailand with more than 10,000 subscribers, with approximately 1,000 new channels reaching this milestone monthly.
Rafael Cislowski, Country Manager for Google Thailand, noted that the platform has evolved from a video-sharing site into a central hub for culture and commerce. A key development is the integration of e-commerce features, allowing creators to link directly with platforms like Shopee and Lazada. Data suggests that content creators can boost advertising effectiveness by up to 30% and increase consumer purchase intent by as much as 40%. Additionally, the platform has seen an 85% year-on-year increase in YouTube Shorts uploads, reflecting a strong consumer preference for short-form entertainment.
For residents and travelers, this shift means that social media content is increasingly becoming a primary gateway for shopping and brand discovery in Thailand. While the growth of the creator economy is clear, the long-term impact on traditional retail and the specific sustainability of these new e-commerce tools for smaller independent creators remain to be seen. Users should be aware that the line between entertainment and commercial advertising continues to blur as these digital ecosystems expand.
