TAT Promotes Thailand at Tourism Expo Japan 2026

The Tourism Authority of Thailand is showcasing the country at the Tourism Expo Japan 2026 in Tokyo, focusing on high-spending travelers and secondary cities.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is currently participating in the Tourism Expo Japan 2026 (TEJ 2026), held from September 24 to 27 at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center. TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, alongside Deputy Governor for Asia and South Pacific Marketing Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, led the Thai delegation to promote the nation’s tourism image through cultural performances and strategic marketing.

According to Khaosod Online, the initiative aims to attract high-spending Japanese tourists by highlighting secondary cities and specialized travel experiences. The campaign centers on the theme “Healing is the New Luxury,” emphasizing health, wellness, and shopping tourism. By targeting travelers seeking in-depth experiences, the TAT hopes to foster a positive perception of Thailand as a premium destination.

For travelers and residents, this event signals a continued effort by Thai authorities to diversify tourism beyond major hubs, potentially leading to more curated travel packages and wellness-focused infrastructure in smaller provinces. While the event is currently underway, the long-term impact on visitor numbers and the specific rollout of new travel products remain to be confirmed as the TAT continues its promotional activities in the Japanese market.
