On September 24, 2026, local authorities in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai, were alerted to a discovery near the Ban Pa Chi Wang Daeng cemetery. Police and rescue teams arrived at a rice field to find the body of a 66-year-old man, who was employed as a local garden caretaker.
According to reports from Khaosod Online, the victim sustained severe head trauma from a blunt object and facial lacerations from a sharp instrument. Evidence at the scene, including a blood-stained rock found on a nearby concrete road, suggests the victim was attacked before being dragged into the rice field, where his head was reportedly submerged in the mud.
While the victim was not a local resident, he was known in the area for his kind demeanor. His employer has since met with investigators to assist in identifying the perpetrator and determining the motive behind the attack.
