Thailand Issues Severe Weather Warning for Heavy Rainfall Through September 27

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has released its seventh weather advisory (No. 223/2569), warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand from September 24 to September 27, 2026. According to Khaosod Online, this weather pattern is driven by a strong low-pressure system moving from Cambodia into the lower Northeast, Central region, and Bangkok metropolitan area, compounded by an active monsoon trough and strengthening southwest monsoons.

Residents and travelers should exercise extreme caution, as the TMD warns of potential flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in low-lying areas and regions near mountain slopes. The advisory specifically highlights the North, lower Northeast, Central region, Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and the South as areas of concern.

Marine conditions are also expected to deteriorate. The upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are forecasted to experience waves between 2 and 3 meters, with heights exceeding 3 meters in areas affected by thunderstorms. The lower Gulf and lower Andaman Sea are expected to see waves of approximately 2 meters.

Travelers are advised to monitor local weather reports closely and avoid routes prone to recurring flooding.
