GULF Installs Solar Power in Ranong to Boost Community Tourism

Gulf Energy Development (GULF) has launched a solar power installation project in Ban Laem Nao, located in the Na Kha sub-district of Ranong province. As part of the 'Green Energy Green Network for THAIs' initiative, this project aims to provide reliable electricity to remote areas, marking the third site completed in 2026.

Ban Laem Nao is a historic Muslim community with over 300 years of heritage, situated within the Laem Son National Park along the Andaman coast. The village, home to approximately 57 households, has faced challenges regarding basic utility access. By providing a stable energy source, the initiative seeks to improve the quality of life for the 236 residents, support local education, and revitalize community-based tourism and homestay businesses.

For travelers and residents, this development is significant as it enhances the infrastructure of a unique cultural destination, potentially making it easier for visitors to access and enjoy the area's 10-kilometer coastline. While the installation is expected to foster sustainable growth for local tourism, the long-term impact on visitor capacity and the specific expansion plans for homestay services remain to be confirmed. The project underscores a growing trend of integrating renewable energy into Thailand’s rural tourism development strategy.
