Thailand and China Host 9th Marine Cooperation Forum in Bangkok
Thailand and China have convened the 9th China–Southeast Asian Countries Marine Cooperation Forum in Bangkok to discuss sustainable marine management and climate change resilience.
On September 24, 2026, officials from Thailand and China gathered at The Bazaar Hotel Bangkok to open the 9th China–Southeast Asian Countries Marine Cooperation Forum. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the event was co-chaired by Darika Saranket, advisor to the Thai Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, and Dr. Sun Shuxian, Vice Minister of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China.
With over 200 scholars and representatives from across Southeast Asia in attendance, the forum focused on strengthening regional cooperation regarding marine resource management, biodiversity conservation, and the development of a sustainable 'blue economy.' A primary objective of the discussions is to enhance collective resilience against the impacts of climate change on coastal ecosystems.
